Session 2 - First Draft Of Print Production

Okay - you should now have planned for a print media product, whether it's a front cover, article or blogpost. You're currently covering the first two criteria of this unit which are all about planning. You're now in a position to move on to the 2nd criteria which means producing the materials that are going to go into your final print product. For me this means a FIRST DRAFT. Complete this part in the following way.  1. Open up a new post call it "Print Media Skills Part 2: First Draft'. Add the subheading 'MY PITCH' IF you're creating an article on a blog OR creating an article for a magazine answer me these questions WHAT AM I WRITING ABOUT?  WHAT RESEARCH DO I NEED TO DO?  WHAT IS MY WORDCOUNT?  WHAT IS MY DEADLINE?  IF you're just creating a front cover answer me these questions WHAT AM I MAKING? (what's the magazine name and what's it about?  WHAT PROGRAMME AM I GOING TO USE TO MAKE IT?  ...

Session 1 - Starting Your Print Planning

ONE LITTLE FIVE CREDIT UNIT LEFT. It's called Print Media Skills and it's a doddle. Start it as follows. 1. Open up a new blogpost. Call it 'Print Media Skills Part 1 - Ideas And Planning' 2. Put the heading: 'MY IDEA'. Tell me what you'd like to make out of the following - a print based advert - a front cover for a magazine or newspaper (can't be the same as the front cover for the mag you've already made - an internal page/article for a magazine or newspaper - a blogpost, or a new blogsite. Your print ad, article, blogpost or front page can literally be ONE PAGE long if you wish. Also tell me what your ad/article/mag/blogpost is going to be ABOUT. What kind of mag is the cover going to be for or what kind of mag might your article or advert appear in? If it's a blogpost - what kind of blog might host it? 3. Put a new heading 'Planning'.
