Session 2 - First Draft Of Print Production

Okay - you should now have planned for a print media product, whether it's a front cover, article or blogpost. You're currently covering the first two criteria of this unit which are all about planning.

You're now in a position to move on to the 2nd criteria which means producing the materials that are going to go into your final print product. For me this means a FIRST DRAFT. Complete this part in the following way.

1. Open up a new post call it "Print Media Skills Part 2: First Draft'. Add the subheading 'MY PITCH'

IF you're creating an article on a blog OR creating an article for a magazine answer me these questions

WHAT AM I WRITING ABOUT?
WHAT RESEARCH DO I NEED TO DO?
WHAT IS MY WORDCOUNT?
WHAT IS MY DEADLINE?

IF you're just creating a front cover answer me these questions

WHAT AM I MAKING? (what's the magazine name and what's it about?
WHAT PROGRAMME AM I GOING TO USE TO MAKE IT?
WHAT IS MY DEADLINE?

3. For article/blogpost writers, start writing your first draft in Microsoft Word (so that I can edit it)

4. For mag-cover designers, start playing with Indesign towards a first go at your front cover.

5. Add the subheading 'FIRST DRAFT'. Screenshot in image(s) of your article/front cover.

6. E-mail either the indesign or word document to nkulkarni@coventrycollege.ac.uk, then sit tight while I add my comments ready for you to turn your document into a FINAL draft.
