Session 1 - Starting Your Print Planning
ONE LITTLE FIVE CREDIT UNIT LEFT. It's called Print Media Skills and it's a doddle. Start it as follows.
1. Open up a new blogpost. Call it 'Print Media Skills Part 1 - Ideas And Planning'
2. Put the heading: 'MY IDEA'. Tell me what you'd like to make out of the following
- a print based advert
- a front cover for a magazine or newspaper (can't be the same as the front cover for the mag you've already made
- an internal page/article for a magazine or newspaper
- a blogpost, or a new blogsite.
Your print ad, article, blogpost or front page can literally be ONE PAGE long if you wish.
Also tell me what your ad/article/mag/blogpost is going to be ABOUT. What kind of mag is the cover going to be for or what kind of mag might your article or advert appear in? If it's a blogpost - what kind of blog might host it?
3. Put a new heading 'Planning'. You'll then tell me the same things you told me for your bigger magazine, as follows.
What fonts you're going to use, what colours are going to dominate, what kind of images are you going to need.
What equipment/software you're going to use
6. What your deadline is for completing this and why. If I were you I'd give myself a deadline in early June (no later than the end of June) to give yourself enough time.
All the above should put you well towards achieving the first criteria of this unit.
WHAT YOU SHOULD END UP WITH
A blogpost containing a statement of what print product you're going to make, what the content of it will be like and how you're going to go about making it.
